One day closer to Saturday than yesterday.

Ohhhhhhhhhhh my GAWD, do I have anyone left out there in my wonderful world of blogging friends???  I'm going crazy without all of you.  Even The Mr. has noticed that I've been bitchier, since I've been too preoccupied with life, to write all my thoughts down.  Plus, I yap more in his ear, because I haven't been sharing it all of my 'nonsense' stories with you, my dear Blogger.

And of course my favorite day to write is Tuesday, because not only do I get to go link up with Incredible Shrinking IA, PS.  looking FAB-Ulous,  and the, super awesome and lovely Shawn, but it gives me a chance to catch up on all the people I already adore, and find new people to adore.  I love to adore.

Is that repetitive?

Am I being redundant?

Moving on....

You know that moment where you discover your child has more natural talent at something than you do?  Well I do now again.  This last weekend, D and I had two parties to bake for.  No problem,  right?  Hahaha, who do you think you're dealing with here.  So the first cake was due by Satuday, around three o'clock.  Normally, not a problem.  It was just a simple sheet cake, for an adult women's birthday, something with bright colors and alcohol.  Not.A.Problem.

I get home from work around....midnight Friday night, stay up for an hour, killing zombies.  What?!  They had to die.  I set my alarm for 7:15am, going to bed at 1:30, that gives me plenty amount of sleep to make as simple cake before work at 11:30am.  Or so I thought.  Around 9:05am is when I actually woke up.  Yeah, almost two hours late, and less than two hours before work.  Absolutely NO TIME to make, bake and decorate a cake, especially when Ms. Unprepared has to run to the store for eggs first.  **LE SIGH**
This is about the time that I shift into to 'panic-and-become-brilliant' mode, run into my D's room and frantically beg her not to hate me, but "you have to do this cake all by yourself, I'm sooooo sooo sorry".  And, oh yeah, plus "you have to clean the kitchen before you can start baking, while I run to the store and liquor store to finish gathering supplies".  *PS, I just got asked to make this cake Thursday night at work, so I haven't really had time.  Yeah, that's exACTly what I tell myself.*  After, a couple hours at work, I get at text message from D, with her finished cake.  It was perfect, absolutely perfect.  Like, better than mine perfect.  I had to bow to her and then shower her with money and praise.   I love that the praise was worth more to there that the two twenties that came with it. That's a big 'good job' to me.  Anyways, back to D's first solo cake.
There was an airplane bottle of Grey Goose, and a personalized shot glass that sat atop this cake, of course there's no picture of that, but look at the beauty that is that cake.  And not ONE spot of frosting out of place.  Proud mom here.
On Sunday, it was my turn.  Today's theme.  Sock monkey.

D spent the night at a friends house, and had a hard time making it home on time for Sunday's baking day, so it was my day to fly solo.  Somewhere in my adult life, I've forgotten simple math.  I needed to make a small cake for birthday boy, and two dozen cupcakes, what I ended up with was, one small cake and FOUR dozen cupcakes.  And I didn't eve drink this weekend.  Oh well, at least people at work got a few cupcakes, because those things ARE NOT staying at my house.
Mr.  Sock Monkey cake.  Cute yes, creepy definitely.
Matching cupcakes.  I think I should have gone with the smaller M&M's because these things totally creep me out with their big BIG FREAKY eyes.
I did have fun making them though, even though, once I had them all done, I had 24 little sets of eyes, staring at me, judging me.  But, they loved them and the baby wasn't scared of his cake, so Yay!

Sidenote~  It's snowing right now.  I hate that.  Hate.It!

Oh, Oh, Oh!!!  Friday night was date night with The Mr.  we went to dinner and then to one of our historical Seattle theaters to see Jim Jefferies.  If you don't know who he is, YouTube him, he's fricken hilarious.  ***Caution though***  He's got a trashy TRASHY mouth, and throws the 'C' word around like it's the word 'and'.  I happen to love it though.  It was an awesome night!

And OH OH OH, the whole reason for the title of my post.  Guess what I get to do on Saturday????

Give up??

I get to meet two out of three of my sisters, from my bio dad, that I've only talked to through FB, even though it's been for the last almost three years.  One of them has a business trip to Seattle, so me and my dolls are gonna go meet them and spend the day shoving 30 years of history into 5 hours of time.  I'm a hot mess about it, I'm super excited, but completely nervous about it all at the same time.  I know it will be great though adn that they'll love me, I mean, Duh, who wouldn't, right?

Well kiddies, reality beckons, and I have to take the kid to school, clean the house, make dinner and hopefully get a nap in before work.

See ya on the flip side!

  4. Wow! That's D's first solo cake? She did an outstanding job! :) Your sock monkey cake turned out great - I'm giggling that you ended up with four dozen cupcakes instead of two dozen...sounds like something I'd do! :)

I miss living in the Seattle area - can't wait to get back there, if nothing else to go to one of the historical theaters on a date night. Among other things...like my parents and family still all living there. ;)
