Beef, it's what was for dinner

One of our favorite dinners round these parts is Beef Stroganoff.  I'd tell you what The Mister calls it, but that would shatter your purified vision of me.  *I can't believe I just wrote that with a straight face.

Here is a very simple, but very delicious five, six if you count the water that you boil noodles in, ingredient recipe for this wonderful comfort food.

You will need:

1-2 lbs of stripped beef steak of your choice.  *I use more meat, cuz that's how we do.
1 8oz container of sour cream.
1 pint of heavy whipping cream.  *Hey I never said this was a low fat version.
1 package of Au Jus gravy
1 package of wide egg noodles

I would have photographed the ingredients, but I forgot.  May crows poke my eyes out for it.

Bring a pot of water to boil.  Add noodles and cook until desired softness.
Boiling water.  Add noodles.
While your noodles are a boiling.  Brown your steak.  I like mine a little on the rare side, but it's recommended that you cook it thoroughly.

Yum!
Once your meat is browned and your noodles are done.  Drain your noodles.  Rinse with cold water to stop the cooking process.  To your meat add your, sour cream, whipping cream and Au Jus packet simmer and stir until mixed and creamy.

Add sour cream
And whipping cream

And Au Jus

Simmer, stir and salivate.
Once your sauce is nice and creamy, add your noodles.

Stir, let stand for about five minutes and then devour.

Add noodles
Stir together.

Watch the bowl go from full, to empty in mere minutes.

Enjoy!

  2. See, if my mom had made beef stroganoff THIS way, I wouldn't have had to do the spit and flush (spit into napkin, flush down toilet).
